Campus and Academic Development Activities

The government of Maharashtra has sanctioned Rs. 3,52,96,750 grant for the construction of the museum in Deccan College campus. This new museum building will accommodate both archeology and maratha history museums which are at present located in different areas. The museum will be having different galleries devoted to the material belonging to different ages. In addition, the science galleries will be also constructed.

The University Grant Commission, new Delhi has approved Rs. Five Crore for the academic work and developmental work in the campus of the college

  • Scanning and digitization of scriptorium, Sanskrit texts, rare books in the library and documents from Maratha History Museum.
  • Construction of apartments for the non-teaching staff of the institute.
  • Water-proofing and electrical wiring of campus buildings.
  • New well equipped convocation hall.
  • Compound wall of the institute
  • Campus development
  • Renovation and repairs of heritage structures on campus.

Deccan College Heritage Park

The Institute would like to continue its extension of educational activities as part of its efforts to educate the public about the country's composite heritage. The Management Council of the Institute and Board of Trustees of the Deccan College Poona Trust have approved the creation of a Heritage Park on the open land of the Deccan College campus. The land for the Park is being provided by the Trust and the Park is being developed and maintained by the Pune Municipal Corporation. This heritage park will have open air displays depicting the country's historical, archaeological, ethnic and linguistic heritage. The Pune Municipal Corporation has been kind enough to provide entire funding to the tune of Rs. 4.00 crores for this ambitious project which will also add to the greenery in the city. The Heritage Park will certainly be a place of pride in Pune city.
